October 2025 MES PTO Updates

A big mahalo to the 140+ volunteers who joined us for September’s Campus Beautification! With your help (and support from HPD District 5 Community Policing Team and the Moanalua Lions), we added fresh coats of paint, laid new sod, planted ti leaves, and removed old benches—all to get ready for this school year’s Fun Fair and May Day.

Fall Family Night – Coming Soon
Get ready for our Fall Family Pumpkin Carving and Costume Contest! MES PTO members will get first dibs on RSVPing and discounts on pumpkins. Stay tuned for details on how to sign up. Join us at the MES In-Person Meet and Greet!

We’re looking forward to welcoming back all our MES Surfrider families at the Moanalua Elementary School Meet & Greet on Thursday, July 31, 2025!

Come visit us at the MES PTO table in the MES Courtyard from 4:30-5:30 PM. We’ll have members available to help with membership sign-up, t-shirts pre-order distribution, and to answer any questions you may have about our upcoming activities and how you can help. While there, make sure to vote for the movie you want to see at our upcoming Family Movie Night on Thursday, August 14.

Need dinner? We’ll have pizza slice and drink combos for sale for $5. Order online by July 30, at bit.ly/4lzoP3m to guarantee your order. Limited additional combos will be available for purchase at the event – cash only.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Want to help welcome families and support our school community? We’re looking for friendly faces to help us staff the MES PTO Welcome Tables at our various Welcome Back events, including: Welcome Back Teacher/Staff Luncheon (July 31), In-Person Meet and Greet (July 31), and Kindergarten Workshops (August 5 and August 6). Volunteers Needed!

We are actively seeking volunteers for these upcoming MES and MES PTO activities:

MES Scholastic Book Fair (10/28-11/1): bit.ly/MESfall24books. Help students with selecting books and checking out.

Fun Fair Donation Drop-off (11/1-11/15, 11/25): bit.ly/4dGpL1n. Help with our curbside donation drop-off collection and getting leftover items ready for pick-up following Fun Fair.

Fun Fair (11/21-11/23): bit.ly/3TAIxQd. We need all hands on deck to make our Fun Fair a success. Sign-up by 10/23, to be entered into our VIP Parking raffle for a coveted Fun Fair parking spot worth $150!

In addition, we’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new PTO Volunteer Pledge Card, designed to make volunteering even more fun and rewarding! Your involvement as a PTO volunteer is vital to the success of our initiatives, and can have a direct positive impact on your child’s experience at school.

By participating in our Volunteer Pledge program, you will earn stamps for each PTO event you help out with. Complete all three stamps on your card, and you’ll be entered into our exciting raffle prize giveaways throughout the year! And there’s more — become a committee chair for any event and get an extra raffle entry!

Fun Fair 2024 — Here We Come! Here’s How You Can Help

The countdown is on for our annual Fun Fair on November 22! Fun Fair packets were sent home last week detailing all the highlights — from our first-ever Country Store to a student entrepreneurial booth and of course, our popular Silent Auction and very own MES Got Talent Show.

We’ll be sending out reminders on key deadlines over the next couple months so you won’t miss out on early-bird discounts. And of course, we’ll be looking for countless volunteers to help make our Fun Fair a smashing success.

Here’s your roundup of October deadlines:

  • Pre-Order T-Shirts: Show your Fun Fair spirit! We’ve got a new design for 2024. Pre-order your T-shirt by October 16 for delivery to your child’s class before Fun Fair. Jump on this deadline as shirts will NOT be available for sale at the Fun Fair.
  • MES Got Talent: Does your child sing, dance, play an instrument or love to entertain a crowd? We’re looking for solo or group performers for the Talent Show. Submit an application by October 23; auditions to be held on November 6.
  • Volunteers Needed: From setup to cleanup and helping staff the various stations all night long, we’re hoping each MES family will consider taking on a minimum of one shift. Here’s an overview of the volunteer help that will be needed. Shift signups are due October 23. Plus, all MES parents and guardians who volunteer for at least one shift will be entered to win a VIP Parking Stall on Fun Fair night!

We also need your help with our Silent Auction, which plays a huge part in making the Fun Fair a success! We’re looking for donations such as gift certificates, hotel stays, themed gift baskets, new electronics and more. Every donation helps raise funds for vital school programs, including holiday events, STEM and art initiatives, and campus beautification projects. Donations are due by November 1. Reach out to silentauction@moanaluapto.org with any questions.
